Isolated and behind closed doors, many of us watched how the deadly coronavirus spread and resulted in a global crisis of unprecedented reach and proportion.
Fasting in the month of Ramadan 2020, away from his loved ones, the keen philantrophist, Dabirul thought long and hard about what he could do to help communities around him. He saw Captain Sir Tom Moore walk 100 lengths of his garden and was inspired to do the same.
Dabirul, whilst fasting, began to walk 100 lengths of his garden, uniting communities from across the world and helping raise over £420,000.
He became the oldest Muslim frundraiser at the age of 101 and was then awarded an OBE by HM Queen Elizabeth II for his extraordinary fundraising efforts globally.
Having then seen the impact he made on the communities around him, Dabirul Choudhury became deeply committed to tackling global issues, thus, establishing the Dabirul Choudhury Foundation in 2022.
